Privacy Policy

How we protect your privacy

We take your parent's privacy seriously. Here's exactly what data we collect, why we need it, and how we protect it.

Last updated: November 21, 2024

Overview

Margit provides daily phone calls for older adults through AI technology. This policy explains how we handle personal data in compliance with GDPR and Swedish data protection law. We believe in transparency—if anything in this policy is unclear, please ask us.

What data we collect

We only collect what's necessary to provide Margit's service. Not more, not less.

Call content

The actual words spoken during calls between your parent and Sia. We need this to maintain call continuity—so Sia can remember what was discussed yesterday and build meaningful ongoing dialogue. These conversations are never shared, sold, or used for advertising.

Call metadata

Technical details like call time, duration, and whether the call was answered. This helps us give you evening confirmations and identify concerning patterns (like repeated missed calls).

Account information

Names, email addresses, phone numbers, and billing information (when applicable). This is standard information needed to provide any service and communicate with you.

Wellness indicators

General indicators derived from calls—things like engagement level, mood patterns, and conversation quality. These help us give you evening wellness summaries. We don't create detailed transcripts or medical assessments.

Why we collect this data

Every data point we collect serves a specific purpose:

  • To provide daily calls with continuity and context
  • To give you peace of mind through evening confirmations
  • To improve Sia's conversation quality over time
  • To identify technical issues or concerning patterns that need attention

How we protect your data

Data security isn't just a checkbox for us—it's fundamental to our service. All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We store everything in Europe (GDPR-compliant datacenters), never in regions with weaker privacy laws. Access to call data is strictly limited to necessary technical staff for quality and safety monitoring, done anonymously. We use industry-standard security methods and regularly audit our procedures. We don't sell data, don't share it with advertisers, or use it for any purpose beyond providing Margit's service. Your parent's conversations are private—we treat them with the same respect you'd expect for any private conversation.

Your rights (GDPR)

Under European privacy law, you have specific rights over your data. We make it easy to exercise these rights—no bureaucracy, no runarounds.

Right to access

Request a copy of all data we have about your account. We'll provide it in readable format within 30 days.

Right to deletion

Ask us to delete all data tied to your account. We'll remove everything within 30 days, no questions asked.

Right to correction

Request corrections to inaccurate personal information we have.

Right to data portability

Request your data in machine-readable format to transfer to another service.

Right to object

Object to how we process your data. We'll stop unless we have compelling legitimate reasons.

Third-party services

We use carefully selected third-party services to provide Margit. Each has been chosen for their strong privacy practices. OpenAI processes call content to power Sia's responses (they don't use our data to train their models). Telnyx handles phone calls (they process call audio but don't store call content). Google Cloud Platform stores data securely in European datacenters. Supabase handles authentication and some application data. All these providers are GDPR-compliant and have strict data processing agreements with us. We don't share data with marketing companies, data brokers, or advertisers. Never.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy as we improve Margit or as laws change. If we make significant changes that affect how we handle your data, we'll notify you via email at least 30 days before changes take effect. You can always find the current version of this policy on our website, with the last updated date at the top. Continuing to use Margit after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy. If you disagree with changes, you can cancel your service—no hard feelings.
